Are you using the piston on a fixed barrel? I thought that was a no no.Niceguy wrote:Gen2 Glock 9mm mag sub2k and Octane 45 with 1/2x28 9mm piston... BEYOND fun!!!

What are you supposed to use? Why would a fixed barrel make a difference? It had no issues, but better hold off shooting this until I do my homework... Sounds like I need to talk to Silencerco or Silencer Shop tomorrow...hahashaggy1392 wrote:Are you using the piston on a fixed barrel? Its not recommended but you can. Most people put a spacer in place of the booster.Niceguy wrote:What are you supposed to use? Why would a fixed barrel make a difference? What does it do, or not do? I was just looking on the 2 sites and it really doesn't tell you much of anything. Other than they sell them.Dustin wrote:Its not recommended but you can. You just need them for browning style guns.

Silencerco makes a fixed barrel adapter to replace the booster. Silencershop sells them. From my understanding, using a booster on a fixed barrel can destroy the threading on the barrel and piston.

Re: Suppressor Pic Thread
Jonny I found the instructions and product descriptions to be singularly unhelpful regarding the piston vs. fixed spacer discussion.
I contacted Silencerco and was told with a fixed barrel use the spacer AND the right piston OR the fixed adapter on a rifle/fixed barrel, and the proper piston assembly on handguns with the moveable barrel. You *can* go with the piston and spring assembly on a fixed barrel, but you risk a baffle strike.
I opted for the fixed adapter for using on my 300 BLK with the octane. (If you do this remember subsonic ONLY with 300 BLK and the octane!)
*Edited for clarity with AND and OR and other words - I shouldn't post when I am sleepy LOL*

Re: Suppressor Pic Thread
Check out my edited post above to be sure of what you need. I re-read it this morning and decided I need to be more clear.
The threaded part that goes on the barrel is on the piston or on the fixed adapter, depending on which you are using.
I posted in a separate thread here in the Suppressor forum the email exchange I had with Silencerco regarding which goes with what.

This is what I was talking about using. http://www.store.silencerco.com/products/thread-mount. Looks like that or the spacer will work and the spacer is cheaper.

Re: Suppressor Pic Thread
Just spoke to both Silencerco and The Silencer Shop and the said I was good to go with this spacer setup that just eliminates the spring and you used the rest of your existing pieces. $40something and the fun begins again...hahashaggy1392 wrote:This is what I was talking about using. http://www.store.silencerco.com/products/thread-mount.
