Calling all Focus guys
Thinking about a cheap econo box ride... Is this a decent price for this model focus? Looks pretty clean and I can buy nearly the entire A/C system for $146 and have means and ability to fix it.

Definitely one of my first choices. Hard to find Hondas or Toyotas with under 300,000+ miles for an even remotely fair price. Or completely f'up by 16 year old kids...hahaDDgunslinger wrote:Get a Toyota... *cough cough*

Looks like a SE, maybe a little high for the miles
If it was an SES still a little high, miles again, but closer.
Have an 07 SES ZX4 myself.
All IMHO of course.

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Kinda what I was thinking. But "cash for clunker" bullshit REEEEALLY hurt the cheap used car market also.WLJ wrote:Looks like a SE, maybe a little high for the miles

Re: Calling all Focus guys
Not bad at all- I know a guy with one that has over 300k miles on it. I agree with the $2,000 offer; he knows it needs AC work, start talking 'evacuate the system' and crap to scare him on how serious Of a problem he has in his hands, with hot weather coming, etc I'll bet he'll go 2,000.

Had an 07 until I totaled it @ 90K. Had to have the tranny rebuilt just before 60K while still under warranty. Never got the gas mileage I expected but the wife had a lead foot & thought you had to floor it from every stop. Otherwise a decent car.

Re: Calling all Focus guys
I drive an '05 ZX4 (4-door, 5-speed, 2.0L engine) as my commuter car. Bought it as a rebuilt title car with just under 90K on it. It now has 173K on it and gets 31-34 mpg on the highway cruising at 75 mph average. I'm hoping to get another 80K+ out of it.
If I were to sell this one today I would look for another Focus.
For the one you are looking at, $3000 seems a bit too high. I agree with the others, talk about the a/c replacement and get him down on price.

Re: Calling all Focus guys
That's the way I did my bone stock 96 Civic Ex for 110,000 miles. I spent a total of $2100 on it to drive 110,000 miles. That was $1000 loss between buy and sell price and $1100 for everything put into it short of gas and oil changes. It would have been less but I paid someone to do the timing change the second round. Tires, front brakes, timing belt water pump thermostat and all belts and hoses x 2, 2 axles, a pipe and muffler. That was a damn good investment. And it averaged 36-38 mpg driving it like I stole it. And a best of 41 mpg one tank coming from Va back here to Ky.Toddstang wrote:I drive mine like a stolen go cart daily.
