Talking to a member here tonight about whisky, I like bourbon a lot. A LOT. My usual picks are Bulleit, Elijah Craig and Beam when its time for mass consumption.
I'm no expert on it though, I'm trying to learn more about it but at the same time I'm also trying to curb my intake. Whisky drinking was getting to a point where it was causing some concern. I'm not giving it up, but I'm trying to lean more towards moderation. In this, I'm trying to enjoy the spirits more for what they are, and not so much for what they can do haha.
When I was down south a few weeks ago I bought a few bottles that aren't available here. My new favorite is Bookers. Good stuff, I wish I had brought more home with me. I drank a bit of this while I was there, but it was damned expensive. 30 bucks for a double is pricey if you ask me. The whole bottle in a liquor store there was 60, but I guess the bars have to make their money too.
I just uncorked this bottle of Blanton's tonight. Has a nice flavor that is almost sweet, followed by a little heat. Not like the Bookers, heat is coming off the glass before you drink.
I'm interested in learning more about the small batch distilleries, and the craft of making a quality whisky. Any suggestions on what members here think is a good one are appreciated.
