Mini Report- Point Blank
The long awaited (by me because it is 5 minutes from my house) opening of a new gun range in Middletown happened Friday. My Wife and I went yesterday evening and I went with my neighbor again this morning.
It is $18 / hr if you shoot pistol, $22 / hr if you shoot long gun. Not sure why long gun is more because you still shoot on one of the 20 available lanes. They also offer a Shooters Pass for $35 / month that allows unlimited shooting. You only have to go twice a month for this to be a good deal (for those of you that are mathematically challenged [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]).
When we went Friday they asked if you needed a target. I said no as I carry shoot-and-sees in my range bag. Once we got inside, I noticed that they don't really give you enough cardboard to attach targets to:
I went back out and bought a target for $1.05 including tax. They had many to choose from. After we shot it up, I attached my targets to it. You can bring your own cardboard or longer targets.
The target system isn't fancy. It has a switch to send them out and bring them in. Distance is marked on the floor.
It is well lit and well ventilated. I know you shoot .308, and not .50.
Overall not as fancy as OR, but a good place for the $$.
They have a good selection of firearms for sale. I didn't see any great deals, but not butt rape prices. $500 Gen 3 Glocks and $540 - $550 Gen 4. They had a black Scar 17 for $2,999 which is close to Kygunco pricing. The FDE Scar 16 was +/- $2,600.
Ammo wasn't cheap, but some reasonable for that type place. 9mm Midwest ball ammo was $233 / 1,000. Federal RTP 9mm ball ammo was $333 / 1,000. About every caliber made was in stock.
The people that work there are mostly Veterans and very nice to talk to. The RO both last night and this morning was an older gentleman who seemed pretty laid back.

Re: Mini Report- Point Blank
Good to hear. I pass it every day to and from work. May have to get the membership and stop by a few times a month.
Re: Mini Report- Point Blank
Might be an option for me too, think its on the east side right?
Buds is usually crowded now and in inclement weather my outdoor range is not that great (no cover for pistol shooters).

Yes eastside in Middletown right behind walmart. Basically Shelbyville Rd (US 60) and the Gene Snyder.Dave1965 wrote:Might be an option for me too, think its on the east side right?

Doesnt Louisville Armory already suit those needs?iron369 wrote:Probably going to ride out and check it out tomorrow. I wish it was more centrally located in the city though.

I guess so. It's just so dimly lit and the ventilation sucks.Rem700 wrote:Doesnt Louisville Armory already suit those needs?iron369 wrote:Probably going to ride out and check it out tomorrow. I wish it was more centrally located in the city though.

Always has. It was even worst before the current owners going back to when it was Ray's. I know the govt folks in Frankfort got on their case about it and forced them to make improvements.iron369 wrote:I guess so. There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

They're not going to let that stop them from voting Dem in future elections.iron369 wrote:My shop is on Clay Street downtown so I have seen bodies laying in the street. No kidding.Dave1965 wrote:Thought that was the whole downtown Louisville shooting zone

Re: Mini Report- Point Blank
I don't go anywhere near them. I have called the police and the fire department show up a few minutes later to cover them. Shooting last week of 4 people sitting in a car was 2blocks from work.Dave1965 wrote:iron369 wrote:My shop is on Clay Street downtown so I have seen bodies laying in the street.
