Question about Open Carry of a Handgun in KY
Hey everyone,
I know this is the board for CC, but there is no OC board. Looks like I will be in KY for a few days and want to openly carry one of my pistols while I'm there. I'm 19 and the firearm in question is a Norinco 1911. Are there any legal issues with this other than staying away from prohibited places such as liquor establishments and such? All responses are appreciated.

Re: Question about Open Carry of a Handgun in KY
I believe Open carry in Ky is legal for resident and nonresident over the age of 18, who are not felons ore otherwise disqualified to posess firearms.
Getting difficult to open carry on your person with the colder weather, mage sure your outer garments doesn't conceal. Factory installed compartments in a motor vehicle are AOK for open carry, under the seat may not be a good idea without ccdw.

Should I call the KY State police and ask them about it? They should be the ultimate authority on it.

Talk to 10 different officers get 10 different answers...
OC is legal as long as you are 18 or over. Says nothing about residency in KRS. Having a loaded weapon in the vehicle, in a FACTORY installed compartment (lockable or not) is legal as well.
There is NO duty to inform an officer you are armed on contact (but usually a good idea).
Here are the prohibited places to carry:

What part of KY you going to be around? I have never had an issue OC-ing in and around Louisville, but some place like Lexington might get more unwanted attention.
