That's basically my plan also, and maybe only 2 or 3 colors. Could you fill me in a little more on the last statement? With spray paint and the basic camo colors, you end up a muted look, its better then black but not by much. Make sure you get some dramatic colore differences and then use the spray to blend them, get a very green semi bright flat green, like new grass color green.
