Am I wrong in thinking that $3,000 for an AR is bit excessive?
I mean are these things worth 3-4 ARs?
LANTAC USA recently announced they would be manufacturing their AR-15 rifles in the USA and this morning they went on sale at Cabelas for $2,999. The rifles are built from premium components, including LanTac’s brand new patented ABS (Adjustable Buffer System). The ABS system allows the buffer strength to be easily adjusted to suit ammunition, conditions or suppressor use. It is a superior alternative to adjustable gas block, which require fine tuning of small screws that have been known to work themselves loose and out of adjustment (I have not seen it myself, but hearing reports of this happening has put me off the concept).

Please, I know guys here with well over 2k spent on a 9mm ar without premium materials. There are always guys who want the most expensive, lightest, newest, etc and they will always be in line to have things like this. Is it wrong? No. Am I gonna be that guy? No. Money is all relative and 3k for an ar isn't that big of a deal if you make 100k for instance and want one ar. There are plenty of guys here who make under 50k and have 5 custom ar's that they spent considerable amounts on. You already know that though and I'm just putting up that other perspective for thought.

Ya. 3k isn't that bad if you want high end.

oh ya. When you can drop 350 in a barrel, and 300 on a rail it is easy to get there.

Okay, but the question was
Are these things worth 3-4 ARs? In other others is the shown AR worth $3,000?
I will admit I'm not too up on higher end AR parts.

If they sell, they are worth it.
If they don't sell, then they aren't worth it.
Now I "might" spend $3K on an AR, but it wouldn't be from this company. Too many bigger, more well known names in the game for my liking.

Well, according to ole Skip over at Shooters, you can buy 2 of "the perfect" AR's from FN for about $3k. Seems like that's pretty much all anyone should need to know.

Of course I'll also buy a $50 pair of sketchers over a $150 pair of Jordan's...both get the job done, it just depends on what you like and what you want to spend

Perfect AR at shooters = Which ever one they have the most in stock of.

There is a difference in faded glory from walmart and armani. Both might get the job done but you do it looking like crap with a cheap one.

Says the guy with the 2k+ 9mm ar and $20k+ car when a $5k uses one does the same thing........you aren't going to get away with that bullshit logic.

My 9mm is not over 2k. I wasn't trying to put out any bullshit, I was just saying that, like anything else in life, it all depends on what the individual can afford and wants to spend on what they like.

I just went back through the build materials list for my 9mm build. The final parts in that build come to right at $1300. Add $200 for a stamp. Not being defensive about anything. Actually, the statement Jack made, made me take a close look at how much I wound up with in the rifle. I bought some parts that started out on the build, but then were swapped out in favor of something else. I probably have a few hundred dollars worth of spare parts I bought for the 9mm that didn't make the cut, that could be or, have been used for other projects.

And I don't think many would say a 9mm ar should cost more than a 5.56 and therefor the price rises and then we see how 3k is easily reached and not so ridiculous. Some people like I say want the best most expensive, etc and only want one and some collect things and want many and take a more affordable route. Plenty different ways the world turns but like Mike C says " if it is selling, it is worth it".

For my own situation, the cost of the build was less a concern, not because I have unlimited funds. Far from that. I knew I was going to do a form 1 and will probably always have it. And, most of it was bought over a long period of time. So yes, it's all relative.
