Why not just a stripped lower you can assemble to a pistol or rifle build?Bama wrote:I need one registered as a pistol.

im guessing he means if it's a private sale and they registered it as rifle when they bought it?Niceguy wrote:Why not just a stripped lower you can assemble to a pistol or rifle build?Bama wrote:I need one registered as a pistol.

I'll give ya $10 for it and I'll take the riskBama wrote:I picked up one from a member in trade, not sure if it were registered as rifle or other. Rather be safe than sorry.
I wouldn't mind trading it to a pistol registered lower if I had the option
Damn! Been a couple of years since I picked up my last Spike's lower, but back then they were $84.00.Gunsmokin wrote:The spikes lowers I got are $109. There are more expensive ones that have the colorfill logos. Adds $10-20 iirc.
Niceguy wrote:Can you choose what they are when you buy them? How do you know when you bought a stripped lower used what they were bought as originally? I guess I've never really thought about that. I should probably use ones I bought new on pistol builds to be safe.
ssracer wrote:It's one of those gray areas. Typically if I buy a lower I check "other". In the grand scheme it probably really doesn't matter
If you buy a stripped lower from an FFL, they should put "receiver" as the type of weapon. I think there was a thread or link a little while back that tried to clear up the confusion. When the dealer gets them in, they're checked in as a receiver. If they write anything else than receiver on your paperwork, the ATF thinks they manufactured a weapon out of the receiver and sold it to you.Bama wrote:I picked up one from a member in trade, not sure if it were registered as rifle or other.
