I walk in and at the very entrance is a 2-person table, right in front of the cashier/order taker. Sitting there, playing on a phone is a young 20 something- honestly he looked closer to 18, black male, in the 'typical' urban attire of baggy t-shirt, oversized shorts and flat-brimmed baseball hat.
Normally I would not have noticed any more about him than that, but one thing about him stuck out: he was open carrying. Awesome. Then I look closer. A Hi Point Compact. Mexican carry on his side right at 3 o'clock.
but still, good for him for carrying, right?He's probably not used to questions from professional white people, I'm betting, but I ask anyway. 'Hey- what round are you carrying in your Hi-Point?'
"nine millimeter"
'Ok, I see, but what ammo are you loaded with?'
"Blazer Brass" he says.
"Oh, well, you need to check out a good HD round, like Critical Defense or Hydra-Shocks", trying to help him a little...
the next thing he says floors me. I mean, I truly was trying to just educate this guy a little, but it seems he needs more help than I thought. He says:
"what thread pitch is that?"
'uh...it's 124 grain that you'd probably want'...assuming I knew what he meant. I hope.
Hopefully he looks up Hornady's websight on his phone...
