Gen4 G19 for da/sa pistol
Gen4 G19 for da/sa pistol
I know. I know. All guns should be glock 19s right? My new job issues a sig 229 and I'm not allowed to practice with it. I like the beretta 92fs. I know somebody had got a worn out old 92 laying around. If you have a sig for trade. Let me know how I can sweeten my end of the bargain

If you can't find the right trade just sell it and get exactly what you want. If you want to practice for the job you'd be a fool to not stay compatible with your issued gun. Share magazines, holsters, aftermarket parts, mag pouches, etc. Maintain familiarity between controls, draw and presentation, etc.
But if you really want something different... I'm hearing pretty great things about the CZ P-07 and P-09, both SA/DA, and they tend to cost just under Glock's cost. I know a shop in NKY with really cheap old 92's, with the heel magazine release, and who would order anything you want for about 10% over cost.
Go feel a bunch of different options:
Anything CZ
Beretta
Sig

You may also want to check out a PX4. Similar hammer & safety setup as the 92.Kephale wrote:I know. I know. All guns should be glock 19s right? There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I've never really looked at cz. Thanks for the tip. I agree. It would be best to run a 229 but they are so expensive. I have found them leo trade in around five and a half but all of them are in .40 caliber.

See if you can find a P226. They can be had for reasonable money, if you can locate one.

You might be able to trade it for a sig p6 or p226. Check arms list.

Seems like there was a thread on ArfCom recently about trade-in Berettas going for around $250. If I can find it I'll post the link.

Mine does. I am partial to my P226, but the 2022 is a bit lighter to carry.Kephale wrote:The polymer frame sig 2022 looks promising if it runs the same as the 226.

I just recently picked up a P320 Full sized, but would hesitate to recommend it for duty carry until I have some time and rounds down range with it.
Besides, the best deal I could find on one was $599.00, probably out of his price range.

I strongly agree with those who recommended the P226/P6 option.
If your goal is to become more familiar with your duty gun, this is the only way to go, in my opinion.
