MSNBC Host: I'm Uncomfortable' Calling Fallen Soldiers Heros

Post by WLJ » Mon May 28, 2012 9:21 am

Yep, you read that headline right. Chris Hayes, of MSNBC's Sunday morning show "Up with Chris Hayes," says he's uncomfortable ascribing valorous terms to fallen military because it's "rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war." Just...watch:

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I only wish there were some way I could further do harm to MSNBC than not watching or doing business with any of thier sponsors.

PMSNBC is irrelevant these days and I for one will not miss them. I think their viewership is in the dumper.

I don't think anyone here says he shouldn't be allowed to say it. It's a collective F U to him for even thinking it

I agree wholeheartedly that the term "hero" gets way over used. It irritates me to no end to see the term attached to sport players or Hollywood types. I've even heard Tyvon Martin being described as a hero.
