In conclusion after judging results and time spent, think I'll stay with using the chemical rust removal method. Using evaporust works great, doesn't harm paint and is water soluble. At $25 a gallon I need to find a way to filter it so it can be used again.

evaporust is reusable until black. I've used it many times and it is advertised that way as well

Remember, add acid to water. Not water to acid. H20 will dance on acid molecules and splash. Eye protection and gloves at minimum.

Pour the acid into the water.
