Well I'll be damned. Just read quite a bit more and mildots are the best thing since sliced bacon.

It would really be nice to learn hands on if any one willing. I live in owenton and willing to travel a ways for a 1/2 or full day of hands on. I would offer pay but I am retired on a very low income. Could possibly offer lunch or a box of ammo or something like that.

yep, I just never ever used yards when shooting, so it sounds very weird. You are correct both are right.

Re: Mil-Dot scopes
as far as hunting with a mil dot, I'd suggest measuring items of known size when you get to your stand and making a range card. you will want to use the elevation turret to set your elevation and use your mil dots for the windage as the wind is always changing.

Re: Mil-Dot scopes
place small marking flags at 50 yard intervals around the stand, 50,100, 150, 200,and so on, they work as wind flags and range markers.justang1997 wrote:as far as hunting with a mil dot, I'd suggest measuring items of known size when you get to your stand and making a range card. you will want to use the elevation turret to set your elevation and use your mil dots for the windage as the wind is always changing.
