GGG Flip Up EOTech covers. Nothing like getting behind cover, switching to your secondary and when you go back to the rifle you find the front cover closed against your leg. Fortunately with both eyes open I still hit targets..lol

Are you wearing them high enough? I had to be taught how to wear them properly.Frailer wrote:Drop leg holsters. *HATE* 'em.

Re: Useless piece of gear? What ya got....
I bought that gun tool that is silver and black forget the name right now (though I think it is just called gun tool). It's tools don't lock in place! Example is the punch is at an angle at full open so when you try to push anything, then the punch folds on your hand. Not only that the punch is too big to fit most all of my guns anyway. The hex keys don't fit the only gun I need it for which is my Rem 597. So when I clean it I have to get out my real tool box for other size hex keys. I used the scraper blade part and it bent like it was an aluminum can. Very disappointed.

I wore it as high as I could without interfering with my body armor.justang1997 wrote:Are you wearing them high enough? I had to be taught how to wear them properly.Frailer wrote:Drop leg holsters. *HATE* 'em.

My problem is two-fold: I use my right-side cargo pocket, and if I don't crank the retaining strap down tight enough to be uncomfortable the gun moves around too much.
Hate 'em. During my last Iraq tour I wore a cheap ass nylon holster zip-tied to my IBA that was infinitely more useful.

My 5:
1. Magpul AFG.
(Owned that and the 2. Cool grip, but what happens when you need to turn to your lead hand side?)
2. Magpul AFG2.
3. 3.5 connector for Glocks
( Didn't see any differance over a broken in trigger)
4. Magpul shooting DVD
(I'm no 'badass' but that was some goofy ass shit)
5. Glock bayonet.
(Someone out there thinks this thing is awesome, and they are wrong.)

Re: Useless piece of gear? What ya got....
dude..you are so wrong about the pistol bayonet. That is a critical piece of kit.
The BAD lever is nice, but if you get used to it and find that you need to use a rifle that does not have one it will screw with your routine.
Magazine doubler. Worthless.
I don't know if I would say vertical grips / AFGs are worthless, I just never liked them. I tried to like them. I have 2 grip pods that I will throw on a rifle to zero / check zero but as far as a permanent attachment, it would be worthless I think. At on my AR.
The laser boresight that you stick in the end of a rifle barrel. Yeah, I wish I could get my money back on that thing.

I can imagine a bad movie with a Glock bayonet being involved with some sort of pistol dual on a rooftop.ChopperDoc wrote:dude..you are so wrong about the pistol bayonet. That is a critical piece of kit.

I have a korean made 31 rd glock mag. Total POS. Jamomatic. Spring is already rusted after about 10 months. Even tried switching floorplates with a glock factory mag. Didnt work. I totally regret buying that thing. And stewarts pawn has the nerve to sell them for a hundred dollars.... .. (i bought mine online for $35)

Actually some people use red dots with the front blacked out on purpose and many of the early red dots were made that way. They claim with training they actually work better that way, something to do with the way the brain processes the info. Read the article a while back, may have to track it down again.ssracer wrote:GGG Flip Up EOTech covers. There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I had actually done that to force myself to get used to shooting with both eyes open...but I don't need that happening at randomWLJ wrote:Actually some people use red dots with the front blacked out on purpose and many of the early red dots were made that way. AFG's..no matter how many I buy. I wind up selling them later. Just too chunky in the hand.

You've tried the newest (second generation, to my knowledge) AFG? The 'wings' were removed, slimming it down a bit.mtchbrian wrote:AFG's..no matter how many I buy. I wind up selling them later. Just too chunky in the hand.
Most useless piece of gear? The bag, and everything else, 'issued' to me by my RSP unit in the Guard. RSP is where you are before you ship out to Basic and AIT, before you're really a soldier. Anything they gave us was just bullshit bought from some promotional company type outfit, all made in China, all junk. The pack they gave me failed at the side seams within three months.
Luckily real units get real gear.
