I have 3 of them, 2 standard and one with the IR lens for use with my night vision scope. I have been beating the hell out of them on 1 of my AR rifles and on my Mossy 500 for several years, now. They are tough enough to take a pounding and still function. High dollar, but with good reason.

I had one and I really liked it for what it was. I bought it used at a gun show for $25. Bought an after market bulb and cap assembly off Ebay and it puts out 380lms.

You could do worse that's for sure. Odds are you will never have a problem. If it's to get a light on a gun for course work or training it's a non issue. If it's for protection of life I'd go with something else. The circuit board is more exposed and fragile and it has a MUCH smaller spring inside the tube. Serious recoil or punishment could screw it up. Surefire doesn't reccomend it.

Wait, if this is an incandescent g2 then no issues. What I said only applies to the LED g2 series.

Surefire makes good stuff; in addition to a G2 and others, I have a 6z that I bought in 1999 and has survived getting banged around on four deployments.

But to be honest I don't think the G2s are any better than Streamlight Polytacs.

I still have and use the G2 I took on the invasion.
No issues what so ever.
