10/22 Stock ID

I was always told by my dad and papaw that the stock on my 10/22 was the original stock when it was bought new but I can't find any pic's or ones for sale that look like it. It has no markings on the actual stock, just the Ruger marking on the butt plate. Anyone have any idea if this is a factory Ruger stock or not? Is this thing super rare or is it some kind of replacement stock? It doesn't matter for anything, I'm not selling it. I've just been tinkering with it lately and it made me curious because I've not seen another one exactly like it. Thanks for any info...

Rare, not really. Walnut stock.

You can go to Ruger site, and find the year your rifle was made by looking up the serial number, but they don't break it down by model. That stock if in good condition would bring you around $80+, if you ever wanted to sell. Just search Ruger DSP stocks on eBay.

Thanks for the info. I don't know why I could never find it. My Googlefu is usually pretty good. It's a 1978 model. I won't sell it, it was my dads. He died when I was 12, so it's not going anywhere...

I TOTALLY understand that.

Later models had rubber padded buttstock, all DSP's were walnut. But, they made a version for Walmart that had either birch, or maple stocks of that style, but came with 22" barrels, most were stainless steel.
