Redneck Steel Target :)

Post by JustShootIt » Tue Jul 10, 2012 10:16 pm

Earlier today I was trying to think of some different targets I could make......when I got home I came across my corner full of old shovels. A couple were fairly thick, so I grabbed one and decided to cut it down and try it out. It's pretty self explanatory once you see it and it only took a few minutes to throw together and paint......Worked out pretty good! Decided to shoot a quick video as well.......I was trying out the video camera on my tablet and accidentally hit stop before I was done with the video and I'm not sure how to splice two videos together with my tablet......anyway, I had to upload videos individually..........Video(s) below.

What is holding the target up?

I've thought about this with old law mower blades. I wound up going to modern and getting 12x12x1/2" plates cut and they work good for pistol and .223

Nice target stand slo-vo.........

Are the 2 big targets in the middle fixed/welded solid? Or made to swing? Just curious.....

Especially when shooting close, I like to have steel slightly angled toward the ground (not to say you don't know that)

Both swing and are tilted down. I saw some of the copper jackets about 10 feet in front of it when I was looking.

All the plates are 3/8 mild steel. Holding up good to pistol rounds at that distance.
