Smith and Wesson model 329 PD
Anyone else have one of the little monsters? I have had this awhile but only shot sparingly. I am on the fence about keeping it. Shoots fine but WOW only a few at a time. I usually carry a 629 when out west where critters bite back. That is why I bought this one. Just haven't been out there in a couple years.
For any that don't recognize this model, it is an N frame 4 inch scandium frame 44 magnum at 26 ounces. It will get your attention.
I reload and can keep 250 gr lead boolits at around 1000 fps, and is great but for close encounters of the biting kind I may stick with the 4 inch 629 at full pressure.
Thoughts?

Remember this is the 44 mag version of my monster.Marcus wrote:I'm thinking I want to shoot it.
Have you tried 44Spl out of it? That might help calm it it down for target shooting.

The lowest I have gone with Unique is 9.5 grains. I will try it. ThanksJoe wrote:Have you tried 8gs of Unique and a 240gr LSWC
Marcus, it is dangerous on one end and deadly on the other
I have a couple 454`s that are much more pleasant with full pressure loads than this 329 with full power loads. I think I will get down to cat sneeze or mouse fart loads and go from there!

Love carrying Airlite revolvers.Geno wrote:...Thoughts?
Don't love shooting them.
I've never shot a 329, but I have shot .357 Airlites with hot defensive loads. It feels like catching a fastball bare-handed.
Recoil I can deal with, but that shit *stings*.

I tried 8.5 grains of Unique under 240 gr LSWC. That is the Shiznit! Pleasant push and good accuracy. I think I will keep it. Geno

I've pretty much decided on the Taurus version of this as a range toy. For some reason I have the 44 magnum bug at the moment. If I were carrying it for critters that bit back on could justify the expense of the Smith. I'll try the load data you guys have mentioned. Need new gun day: Its been too long
