Taurus 1911AR

Post by suzukid » Sun Mar 11, 2012 2:54 pm

Next month, I will receive my Taurus 1911AR. Does anyone have experience with these? It will be my first 1911, so is there anything I need to look for or change when I get it? I know everyone talks highly of the Wilson 47D mags, but is there anything else you would recommend?

Bought a used PT1911 from a member a few months ago. I've used Chip McCormick Power Mags, Kimber Pro Mags and Colt mil-surp mags with zero problems. I do find that when loaded with a full 8 rounds the CM mags seat easier than the Kimber mags. Other than that all 3 brands/types have been good.

The pistol has an aftermarket magwell on it so I have been unable to use the factory Taurus mag due to a clearance issue with the Taurus baseplate. I have been reluctant to file on the baseplate to allow it to fit so I cannot comment on the performance of the factory mags.
