New to KAC, and to Kentucky, but not to shooting sports.
Hi all,
New to the site and the state of KY, had to get away from the high taxes and Leftists.
Sorta helped the decision when the factory closed, that I worked at.
Moved my family down here and we don't know a soul here, except for the times we vacationed down here.
We have two boys and a girl all school age, they are adjusting well.
We all like the outdoors, kids are all acomplished shooters, thanks to me and the club I belonged to back east.
I have shot skeet, rifle, pistol, at my old club for 20 yrs, am a certified RSO with the NRA.
My oldest boy has got his buck the last 2 yrs in a row, and the younger kids are looking forward to their turn.
I hope we can find some place to hunt here in KY, before long, hate to miss a deer season.
We're renting now but hope to buy a home soon, with some ground too.
One thing I don't like is lack of clear running ground water, haven't seen a stream that would hold a rainbow trout yet! Am I missing something or is that the way it is. If so sure will miss trout fishing and drinkable stream water.

Welcome to kac, and Kentucky.

Welcome. If you tell us what part of the state you want to settle in, we might be able to help.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I appreciate that!
We came from Ct., so Overall KY has affordable prices, as we cannot buy a small farm in CT. and we are not wealthy, so looking for some of the most affordable Counties with decent growing ground, and not too steep. Clear running stream year round would be nice, but don't know if any part of KY has that, we are in Garrard County now, and so far all I see is muddy water.
What little I know so far, Adair seems like no restrictions, and reasonable taxes / land.
I'm all ears if any can help educate me here.
Not fixed on any part of state yet, we're open, and that's the thing, I do need help learning the State, We want to settle in a part of the state that has the least red tape, and low taxes.Paula wrote:Welcome. If you tell us what part of the state you want to settle in, we might be able to help.

Breckinridge County..........low taxes, NO zoning board or restrictions........farming community.......no industrial business.....Sinking Creek runs thru most of Breck and parts of Meade County and is suppose to have plenty of trout.......Other bodies of water would be Rough River Lake.......Not a clear running stream, but a nice lake....
