Depends on the manufacturer. The sound reduction does diminish as the can fills up. This is not much of a problem with modern baffle design and jacketed bullets. Silencerco Sparrow SS is my recommendation. Savage makes a nice bolt action that's factory threaded in the $270 range. The combo is crazy quiet
