Re: Stand your ground?
i have also read a few articles and its still very unclear which way i would go in this case. Zimmerman gave chase to this kid for no reason and then a fight ensued where the kid was shot is mostly what i got out of it. Ao in that case the stand your ground law would not aply because he gave chase ...

Re: G19...gen3 or 4?
I don't think there is a good answer to this question. I have a Gen4 Glock 26, and it works fine, but Glock didn't change the recoil spring assemblies on these. My Glock 17 and 19s are Gen 3. I'm from the better safe than sorry school. As the only real "advance" in the Gen4 line in my book is the ex...

Re: roll em if ya got em
My friend and I are shooting a lot of 9 lately thinking about reloading tips? Advice? Opinions? Is it really cheaper? It is cheaper, but only after your initial investment... ...and only if you don't place high value on your time. As you say, it's tough to justify reloading ammo that only costs .20...

Re: S&W Model 1917 question
Interesting idea. My first thought was this wouldn't work, as the geometry of the cartridges is different, but looking at the cartridge dimensions we're only talking a few thousandths here and there. Perhaps they *could* be re-sized and made to work. I don't own a 1917, so I don't know if headspace ...

When I was a hard-charging Infantry lieutenant/"geardo" I could have posted some cool gear pics.

Re: all non africans are part neanderthal
OK, I give up every article I look at is some rant about race. I may have been remembering wrong and it might have been Cro Magnon, not Neanderthal. "Cro Magnon" is a term that has become virtually meaningless. Basically, it is used to mean early modern humans found in Europe. If you were to gather...

...People always try to give pits a bad rap...just like guns! A dog is only as good as its owner or in this case the people he helped. While I like dogs, and I agree it's more often the owner than the dog that is to blame when something goes wrong, I disagree with the guns analogy. A gun with a laz...

IMHO California's greatest problem is their referenda system. Direct democracy is a bad idea.

To me the slight advantages and disadvantages of either weapons system is minor and almost insignificant compared to the advantages of Mindset , Skills, and Tactics. I agree, except I might delete the "almost" part. As for me, I've shot lots of ARs and several AKs, and I've found both to be quite r...

The guy's a first class moron, and he'll undoubtedly deserve what he gets.
But "children were walking on the other side of the street, in the area where shotgun pellets could have fallen"?
Shotgun pellets falling from the sky are just about harmless.

Re: New on the Wishlist Smith 438
I don't own a 438, but I do own an all-steel 649. It's a great gun (it's a J-frame--what's not to like?), but I'm more a fan of the Centennial (640, 642, etc.) than the Bodyguard (38, 648, etc.) models. The biggest advantage to the shrouded hammer isn't the SA capability, but rather the ability to e...

FWIW I'd be more concerned about ammo costs than repair costs.
That, more than anything else, keeps me from getting into the full-auto game. Fortunately, I was able to get my fill of rapid fire on Uncle Sam's dime.
