Never shot a regular XD. From what I know aside from the match grade barrel and a few internal changes (mags are not compatible between the two) the rest is mostly aesthetic / texture differences. I personally like the look of the XDm much better than the XD

There are trigger kits. I've read that they help by something in the design makes it impossible to eliminate. You can try it at home. Empty the gun and dry fire it. You're welcome to try mine out anytime. Honestly the ONLY issue I have with these guns is the trigger reset. After reset there is some creep before it breaks again. Uncalled for IMO. Never had that with a Glock.
