How are the Tapco's compared to the surplus metal mags?

I think the crapcos have jamitis but my AK has always been finicky.

Then your AK is broken. AKs should not be finicky. Beat it with a hammer until it accepts all you shove down its throat, like you would with a proper whore.
Agreed. It's been cranky(no pun intended) since the day I got it.

My Tapco mags work but the followers are a bit slow to pop up. This is fine in my AK and mags but some people do have problems with them.
