Wifey needs new ride, 4runner just isn't big enough for the family any more. Any thoughts? Can't buy new, way too much money. Looking at 2003-2007 Lincolns, look like pretty nice vehicles.
Another question, is that vintage too old for street cred?
Any thoughts or experience appreciated.

My brother in law bought an 04'. We narrowed it to drive to Florida...2200 miles in a week and i wanted one.
Very nice and smooth, great power, heated and COOLED seats (best thing ever and it really works) power folding back seats power opening and closing rear hatch.
I was very impressed with it except the fuel milage... But i did squeek out about 16-17 all highway at 75-80.

The Navigator is pretty nice but with all of the power options available on it there a whole lot to be repaired. If you are not set on a status symbol of the band look at the higher end Expeditions like the Limited or King Ranch. I settled on a 08 Explorer Limited fully loaded and I love it. I don't have any kids so it's plenty big enough. Gas mileage with the V8 is around 16 mpg in the city, 20 highway.

Yeah status symbol doesn't really mean that much to me, but my folks' last two cars were Lincolns and I thought they were pretty comfortable. I've got to keep the price down because everything I have is tied up in my business. This means no new vehicles for me this decade haha.
I've been looking at a few different things, the Lincoln kinda sticks out just for the option level vs price.

I'd take a Suburban or an Expedition over a Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade any day of the fucking week. Newer trucks are expensive to do repairs on as is, but the Lincoln and Caddy are worse... on top of that neither or known for reliability.

I gotta agree. I know you said you weren't a fan of diesels MK, but I'm loving my powerstroke f350. I'd get a 99-02 model with 7.3 motor.

My original search started out with suburbans but there just aren't too many used ones around here that aren't miled out. If they are low mile they want a fortune.

thing about a tahoe or suburban is the engine they are the LS based engine which runs circles around the ford comparable.
the v8 triton engines have an issue of blowing the spark plugs out of the head which at minimum requires the use of a thread repair kit to fix up to a replacement cylinder head. and the coil on plug setup fails a lot.
the LS based engines in the era are rock solid the only issue I have heard from them is that the lifters can get weak with age causing a tick in the engine, but it still runs fine.
I would take the chevy over the ford anytime.

I always buy used fords. They always seem to be priced lower than comparable chevys and imo the ford is about twice as good in most cases. I do like the gm v8s tho.

The Navigator is the same as the Expedition, just different trim and fender flares.
Lincoln has moved up in JD Powers rankings over the past few years.
The last Lincoln to get a thumbs down was the LS.

I guess things change... granted I am always behind the time. The newest vehicle I've ever owned was a 2000 model anything lol

Cheaper to keep 'er.
Nobody would give me what I got invested in them (maybe the little ones).
Just sold my last motorcycle yesterday.
As for profit, see point 1.

Weird. My parents had an LS and it was an awesome car. Wasn't worth much when they traded in for their new one last fall.

If you can find someone crazy enough to let go of one, take a look at the Ford Excursion.

Could be there is a reason for this.
