Go find a good MKII and build it. Much cheaper and a tack driver.

Power Custom sells all the parts you would need for far less money and equal quality. I have built many 10/22s, MK IIs, & MK IIIs using their parts and they have all been great arms!

Volquartzin Scorpion
I have a pretty sick Paclite 22/45. The accuracy isn't exceptional though. The stock 5.5" target barrel was far more accurate but 10x the weight. The Volquartzin should be the best of both worlds. And bolt face wouldn't be beat to death at 20,000 rounds either.

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
Any other barrel options anyone would recommend. I LOVE everything else about the Paclite, other than the accuracy and you only get so many shots before the bolt face is screwed. I shoot a lot... 5.5" factory barrel was definitely more accurate. The down side of factory barrel is weight, lack of threads, and more rust prone.

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
Get a stainless threaded 5.5" heavy barrel. That weight (& rigidity) is one of the reasons they are so accurate!

Exactly... It's my set on the desk top and pop off rounds when I'm bored, for when critters are in my yard or whatever gun. It gets shot A LOT (100-500+ a week) and cleaned a little.WLJ wrote:Gun should only rust if you don't take care of it.Niceguy wrote:Any other barrel options anyone would recommend. Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
Maybe I should just do their barrel assembly. By time I buy a Ruger barrel and pay to have it threaded, I could just get the Volquartzin barrel and be done.

That is a new firearm.
375-550 or more.
Looks about same as a new Ruger thread barrel pistol.
But hey it your money.

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
Yep, I hate how Ruger did that...
It weighs a lot less than the Ruger upper and it's coated. The entire 6" pistol weighs 1.12 lbs. Still haven't talked myself into it. Just looking at all my options. I'm guessing my Paclite upper is nearing it's life expectancy...

Have you ever thought that a tuned/threaded Ruger from a FFL could be cheaper and not crap out after 20,000 rounds??
But hey it your money....

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
Like I said, I really like Kyswede's and will probably go that route. Paclite is everything I want in it, but accuracy and longevity. It's basically cheap, near maintenance free, weighs nothing. It is accurate enough, but I definitely scored better matches with the factory 5.5" barrel.guncrank1 wrote:Niceguy wrote:Yep, I hate how Ruger did that...

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
This. I foolishly sold my 5.5" bull barrel Mark II to a buddy back in the 80s. Found a 6-7/8" model for $300 at a gun show a few years back and jumped on it. I've never benched it to see how accurate it is, but I know it's more accurate than me. It hits exactly where the sights are pointed when the trigger breaks...every single time. Last weekend I was practicing with some of my .38 snubbies; I finished the range session by putting a few magazines through this gun, and it was almost like cheating.Wyldman wrote:Go find a good MKII and build it. As an aside, it is by far the dirtiest pistol I own. I absolutely *despise* reassembling these damn things.

Re: Volquartzin Scorpion
I have this one and love it! Just not as accurate as I like (not that it's terrible), but my 5.5" target barrel was more accurate in the same lower. I shot a couple perfect scores in league with it, never did with the Paclite on it. Trigger is AMAZING on this one!
