Reports from the Militias of firearms confiscation going on by officers stopping people who are on the way to the ranch.

Illegal search and seizure. Illegal confiscation. Of personal property. If it's true then this may be the beginning.BIGC wrote:Reports from the Militias of firearms confiscation going on by officers stopping people who are on the way to the ranch.

His ranch isn't fed land.
Now if they are going to the disputed part then I could see that. But even then that baffles me how fed land aka gov owned by a gov run by the people. How can they curb our rights when the work for us? Never understood the hypocrisy of that.

Depending on who wrote the story one side claims it is state land, the other (BLM) claims that it is federal....

Doubtful that the cows stepping on them is an issue. The cow would be more likely to break it's leg from sliding off the shell than the turtle getting hurt. They're probably claiming that the cattle's foraging is stripping the vegetation the tortoises need to survive on.Jff24Gordn wrote:Since the cows stepping on the turtles is part of the problem, he needs to switch to buffalo. Buffalo were there for a million years and didn't kill off the turtles.

It goea a little farther than him wanting something for nothing. The part that gets at me is THE WAY the feds handled the situation. We need to show the government that they cannot just show up like a military or swat unit and push everyone around. It doesnt work like that. I think the cow situation itself is iffy. He could be in the wrong there. I dont know. But our government is overstepping its boundaries and we wont atand for it any longer.

You have to read the story from the beginning and not what the mainstream media writes/reports.

He is willing to pay his foraging fees... to his county. He is only refusing to pay them to the federal government. I only see him being taken advantage of. If the government really wanted the money, they would have Bundy pay the county and then take the money from the county.Frailer wrote:Federal thugs vs guy who wants something for nothing.

Re: What are your thoughts on the BLM situation in Nevada?
No, if you are in a federally protected area/federal land/federal facility and those including a federal national park road something like in Cumberland Gap park, then yes the Park Rangers do have the authority to stop you and enforce the law. There is a difference as the Interstate system is not actually federally maintained and owned, it is owned by the states but subject to federal oversight. However, anything that happens (ala maintenance or access or permit on the interstates) have to be approved by the feds. Routes like the Natchez Trace Parkway, national park roads such as Yellowstone, etc., you are subject to federal stopping and law in the form of park rangers or in the case of this BLM land, the BLM officers. On Native American reservations, it is the tribal police who stop you.Toddstang wrote:So if you drive on a federal highway in anywhere USA, the feds have the right to disarm you?Dave1965 wrote:Nope but if you drive on federal land to get there you are there

I was working on the Tunnel at the Cumberland Gap park once, my boss stopped to open the gate to the offices and a rattlesnake struck his boot (early in the morning). He felt it, then saw it, and stomped on its head. When he came back out the Park Rangers were looking at the snake and he said he had killed it earlier. He was almost arrested on the spot for killing it in the National Park.

He paid BLM. BLM never kept to their end of the deal. He stopped paying BLM since he wasn't getting anything in return. BLM did same to other neighbors, ran them off.Jakob wrote:He is willing to pay his foraging fees... to his county. He is only refusing to pay them to the federal government. In the 1880s his grandpa bought the rights to graze cattle on the land. Those property rights have been handed down through over the years. The original deal was a one time payment for the access to graze cattle on that land forever.
But the Bundy's made a deal with Uncle Vader. And he has altered the deal. They should pray that they don't alter it any further.
