Cabela's lead boycott of anti-AR15 show grows

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show which will take place February 2nd through the 10th in Pennsylvania has announced they will no longer allow the display or sale of Modern Sporting Rifles or High-Capacity Magazines. Because of this we have decided not to attend the show and are very happy to see that others in the industry will be skipping it as well. Both small and large retailers and manufactures have decided that they don’t want to be a part of a show that clearly does not support the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans.

The most notable of these retailers (and show sponsor) is Cabela’s which recently explained their position on their Facebook page when they said “Due to recent changes made by Reed Exhibitions [regarding the show] Cabela’s will no longer sponsor this year’s event. After careful consideration regarding Cabela’s business practices, and the feelings of our customers, Cabela’s will, unfortunately, not have a presence at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.”

FUDDs should be happy, they'll only have 2 shotguns and some bowhunting stuff to worry about looking at. None of those EBRs cluttering up the show floor. Now, they can go to the show, spend $20 for parking and to get in, spend 5 minutes looking at the stuff available, and then off home for honey-do's, or to their local watering hole to bitch about what a waste of time that was and spin lies about their latest conquests.

How many happy wives will that make, I wonder?

I Asked Ruger on facebook this morning and they sent me this

Ruger has decided not to attend the upcoming Eastern Sports Show. We are very frustrated by Reed Exhibitions' foolish decision to ban the display of modern sporting rifles. We feel that, as one of America's firearms manufacturers, we must withdraw from the show as a commitment to the 2nd Amendment rights of our customers. Nonetheless, we are very disappointed not to be attending the Eastern Sports Show. We were looking forward to attending the show for the first time this year and meeting and supporting the 200,000+ sportsmen and women that attend this great celebration of the outdoors. We hope the show will be successful for the many outfitters and other vendors who depend on the show for their annual business.

I also asked the outdoor network and they sent me this

We are currently awaiting a formal response on this matter from our network executives. As soon as we get that, we will make it public. Thank you for your interest and concern.
