Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
HAHA....this should get interesting.
Of those listed I say LMT. They are the most innovative of the bunch IMO and their monolithic uppers are just tits. LOVE to have one at some point, especially one of their .308 MWS

Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
I checked other. I have had a few different brands of AR's and I have yet to find one better then the other. I still have my first AR, a Bushmaster A2 20". Its been a really good AR right out of the box, with all original parts still going strong.

I'll be the first to go cheap. I love DSA uppers. I've had 2, the current one with a countless number of rounds through it by me and the previous owner. I've never had any issues with it and the finish has remained nice despite my abuse.

I voted BCM, all buisness and up to any task. The AR has become such that picking a single one is like picking out your favorit color of M&M.
I require a 1x7 twist, ill live with a 1x8 on very specialized barrels. I like 75 grain bullets and they just seem to work better out of the quick twists.
Beyond that I have a particular style that I favor more then a maker.

You better call Kenny Loggins. Cause you're in the danger zone.

I don't have one but I'm gonna pick other cause I hope to pick up an accurate armory ar at some point. I have shot a dpms, accurate armory, and one other that I don't remember what it was, but by far the AA felt best and I shot best with it

I have a "top tier" AR, middle tier and a low tier AR. When i go to range the low tier AR goes.... really makes me no difference to me.

DS is in Ky...my only reason....no extensive experience with AR's. I built two, never shot them and sold them both.

I voted Colt.
Because it has been field proven in combat operations in my very hands.

The Colt sets the bar for the world when it comes to defining MILSPEC.

So true but without these new companies, the AR would still be in the A2 configure. That is my only problem with Colt.Colt stuck with what worked but never really developed it any further.scorpionmain wrote:The Colt sets the bar for the world when it comes to defining MILSPEC.

Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
The only brand I don't like would be DS.Their finish has to be the ugliest out there and won't match to any other brand.

What about the CAR?
Development of the AR15 is thanks to COLT not in spite of. Really hasn't hasent been any advancementsncments thanks to rifle manufactures most all are just modified AR rifles. Now the sheer numbers of them have led to HUGE amounts of aftermarket parts but again I would attribute the huge number to colt.

Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
I completely disagree.Colt stuck with what they perfected but never really got into modifying with various coating, handguards, barrels, etc that newer companies have.I'm not saying anything bad about Colt because they have always made beautiful rifles and their quality is top notch.

Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
FWIW the only reason I didn't say Knights, LaRue or Noveske is because I feel they are a bit expensive for what they are.

Re: Favorite AR manufacturer *poll and discussion
despite the the paint on the house its still the same house you might change the shutters or put a door on it but its the foundation that holds the house up.
I guess don'tnt reallconsiderer an AR15 with a Troy rail and duracoat from the factory to be any different then an AR15 that I have put a troy rail on and duracoated.
