.308 help

Post by etownguy » Sun Feb 05, 2017 5:11 pm

I've had this gun for awhile and the same problem has plagued it since I got it. It will either jam the front of the empty case into the front side of the ejection hole or double feed like seen above. The recoil spring that was originally in it was an odd length so I ordered one of the flat wire springs but it made no difference. I honestly have no idea what brand the BCG is but the extractor is the next thing on my list to try.. can anyone give my some advice on this? or better yet live in hardin county and wants to let me try out their BCG before I blow $50 on a extractor just to have that not fix it either.

What buffer are you using? What load are you using?

Do they make adjustable gas blocks for those?

An adjustable gas block might be a good solution, and yes, they do make them, but I think it should be simpler than that. I'm thinking an H2 heavy buffer and/or a good solid 168gr load would be the first things to try.

Judging from the pics, it looks like a DPMS pattern rifle, and they seem to like heavier buffers.

the buffer is solid and rifle length there is no weight marked on it and I do not own a scale. the ammo is remington core-lokt 150gr. It is DPMS thats the only style SI Defense made in this series. This is the problem getting a custom build that I didn't build. I have no idea exactly what parts are in it.

Try a heavier buffer and also a 168 grain load to standardize

Low gas. The bolt isn't cycling far enough back to eject the spent casing. Buy an adjustable gas block, a lower mass bcg, hotter ammo, check gas port/block alignment, or enlarge the gas port. Cheapest is checking alignment. Most beneficial for you and me is to sell it to me dirt cheap.

I like the idea of an adjustable gas block with a reference mark on what the standard volume is. That would allow for experimenting, then components could be swapped out to get to where you want to be for reliability.

Could be as simple as a misaligned gas block.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.
