New Frontier Armory has a side charging upper for AR-15 (.223/5.56) and AR-9 (9mm) in their product lineup ...
they ship a cam pin that has to be replaced in your BCG ... Retail prices are around the $225-$240 price range with a spare cam pin coming in at around $20 ...
Here are some bullet points on an ad I got in an email recently ...
• Machined from 6061 billet aluminum
• Matte black hard-coat anodized per Mil 8625 Type 3 Class 2
• Compatible with all standard AR-15 components and most aftermarket parts - Machined pocket to accomodate Magpul BAD Lever
• The ONLY Non Reciprocating Side Charger on the market to accept ANY standard MILSPEC BCG - Just change out cam pin with the modified cam pin we provide
• Adjustable tension slide lock on charging handle
• Rear dust cover trap door that seals shut when mated with lower
• Manufactured to MILSPEC on state of the art CNC equipment for consistent quality parts and exacting tolerances
• Save money by building your own AR-15 rifle from the ground up exactly the way you want it configured
• Designed to match lines with New Frontier Armory C-4 Billet Lower and most forged AR-15 Lowers
• Ejection port cut to eject large calibers up to .458 SOCOM shells

I have one of these on my AR9, and it works a treat! I've gotten to where I loathe the standard charging T on my other ARs because this one works so well.

Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

Just make sure to keep the bolt well lubed, and clean the carbon out of it frequently, otherwise it starts getting a bit sticky. A hazard of being able to cycle that much ammo through it in so little time.

Make good bang-bang!

Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

Cool , I would just cut a slot out with a couple drill bit and a side grinder and JB weld a piece of cold roiled to bolt carrier.....:llama:

Cool stuff. If your Rail/hand guard does not stop flush with the receiver (some overlap a littl) they may require a little dremmel work.
