Re: Kentucky Long Rifle.... via Texas.
Slick rifle.
I to found the 1x to whatever scopes were better suited to a different style of rifle. They are great alternative to a red dot but a poor substitute to a precision style optic. My solution was to add a secondary sight system to use up close, i went with 45deg sights as they have the simplicity of back up irions but are always ready. With the longer handguards they are pretty good. The micro red dots are slick as well but lack the simplicity of the irons.
My pet load looses 50 fps going from a 20 inch to a 16 inch, so I shortened my barrel . That reduced my range by around 22 meters if you use the transonic barrier as a max range. Im sure I could push certin bullets beyond that but whats the point really? I mean we are already at a range where a larger bullet would be better suited so why try to squeeze a few extra yards from a bullet that would still be substandard at that range anyhow? With the range limitations of most shooting areas 223 dose what it needs to at a fraction of the cost as other rounds. When I shortened my barrel i also noticed an accuracy gain, not so much group to group but an average of all my groups. That brings me to one of the things i hate about 223, you can shoot a sub minute group and it dont look like the great group it is because the rounds dont touch! Shoot the same size group with a 30 cal and it looks like one jagged hole, now i know and you know this is no big deal , but it aggravates the tar out of me.
Nice rife, nice shooting

Good info in both posts, thanks.
What's "cheap", per round?

At current prices 56 cents a shot. I can load them cheaper then that, but I cant replace my supply for less.Whootsinator wrote:son of liberty wrote:My go to load for any ar15.

Looks good, I jumped at that larue deal a few months back. Got a 12" with a strike eagle on it.
