Armalite AR10A4CBF
I recently picked up an Armalite AR10 carbine used. Good condition. Found it to be a 10A4CBF not the economy defender. Score! Now I want to put a free float fore end with a 12 o clock pic rail and thin in grip. I think that means a keymod type. Any ideas as to quality or economy of available fore ends?

Re: Armalite AR10A4CBF
I may not really "need" free floated?! 16 inch barrel, just lightweight.?!

Re: Armalite AR10A4CBF
You don't necessarily need a keymod rail, but I don't think there's any reason to have a non-free floating rail today.

Re: Armalite AR10A4CBF
It would appear that free floated rails are limited for Armalite brand Gen II carbines. I wonder if a 10 inch shortened to 8 inches would be feasible? I figure as long as the barrel nut attachment is complete, then the length would be arbitrary. Am I off base here?

Good luck on removing the factory tightened barrel nut
I had to remove one on WMan AR -10 and I called the factory, they just wrench them off and replace with a new one.

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

The float tube nut required a BFPP to remove. About two foot long for leverage.WLJ wrote:Pulled mine off with no problem.guncrank1 wrote:Good luck on removing the factory tightened barrel nut

What I used to remove my AR-10's barrel nut and install the new (Armalite's) barrel nut for their free float tube.guncrank1 wrote:The float tube nut required a BFPP to remove. Re: Armalite AR10A4CBF
WLJ, what length barrel is that? Also, is that a rifle length barrel? Did you remove the gasblock to install the tube first?

20 inch and yes to the gas block question.Geno wrote:WLJ, what length barrel is that? Also, is that a rifle length barrel? Did you remove the gasblock to install the tube first?
Had 16" carbine AR-10 but sold it. The RFB replaced it.
BTW: I've since replace the buttstock shown in the picture with the reg factory buttstock
