Freedom Munitions "American Steel"

Post by Whootsinator » Fri Dec 04, 2015 2:30 am

https://www.freedommunitions.com/Americ ... /58712.htm
Unlike foreign made and imported steel cased ammunition, American Steel is made from the highest quality brass plated steel cases combined with dependable primers and powder. The American Steel line is not only accurate and reliable ammunition but also offered at a more economical price point than traditional brass cased ammunition; setting a new standard for range ammunition.

Featuring a copper plated, lead projectile from X-Treme Bullets, American Steel is loaded to the same performance standards and with the same powder and primers as Freedom Munitions traditional line of new and remanufactured ammunition.
Price Comparison:

$209.65/1000rnds New 9mm 115gr RN
$199.00/1000rnds American Steel New 9mm 115gr RN
$189.39/1000rnds Reloaded 9mm 115gr RN
$179.39/1000rnds BLASTER (Cosmetic Second) Reloaded 9mm 115gr RN

Value of 1000 rounds of fired 9mm brass cases: $15.30 - $16.20 at current brass prices (by weight). I'm not sure I see how it's a deal for anyone involved.

Some people don't reload. So the bottom line to the wallet is what it is.

Steel case is still steel case no matter where it was made.
So it will react the same as Russian steel .

I thought the same. When you can get reman brass or blaster brass ammo cheaper, why in the world would you even consider the steel.

Because they said it is. I used to work in retail computers many moons ago and there are people out there that will buy whatever is labeled a deal. We would have a items that wouldn't sell worth a darn but stick a sign on it that says special or something along those lines and out the door they fly.

The remanufactured brass stuff is $10 - $20 cheaper, AND is worth $15 scrap price when you're done shooting it. As long as you don't mind shooting remanufactured ammo the bottom line starts cheaper and only goes down from there, regardless of what you do with the brass or if you reload.

I don't generally buy reloads when the price difference is not that much. You wouldn't want to know how much brass I have picked up over the years at empty ranges or when people leave an occupied range and just have it laying there, I always ask. Some people wouldn't just deal with selling it or keeping it no matter what.

I don't reload yet but I do plan to...also a pack rat.

I'm through with Freedom Munitions, unfortunately.

Last case of 147 gr 9mm I bought from them had two rounds loaded to near-squib levels (round left the barrel, but the slide didn't cycle) and about a half a dozen noticeably underpowered rounds.

I'm sticking with CCI Lawman @ $215/1000 delivered.

Definitely not going to be ordering any of this steel cased ammo. The price difference is so minimal between it and the new brass 115 grain (currently less than 55 cents per box difference btwn the two) that you have to wonder why they would not price the steel cased much lower.

Cheaper is the whole point of steel. If it ain't cheaper what's the point?
