ORM-D stickers are GONE as of JAN 1, 2014

This is what is replacing it:

Ground Label

Air Label
The days of the “ORM-D: Small Arms Cartridges” labels for ammo shipments are numbered. The Dept. of Transportation (DOT) is phasing out the current ORM-D ammo labels, replacing them with a larger striped diamond label that does not mention “Small Arms Cartridges”. This change is designed to harmonize U.S. shipping rules with United Nations standards. You can start using the new “Limited Quantity” diamond labels for ammo shipments immediately, but they are not mandatory — yet. You can continue to use the old ORM-D “Cartridges, Small Arms” labels until December 31, 2013. As of January 1, 2014 you MUST use the Striped Diamonds.

I just got the new IATA book for my facility and have already made several changes to it with the first addendum. The new addition isn't supposed to hit the floor until the first of the year and it's already changing. It's a never ending battle.

So can someone please tell me what good it does to change the label? It still means the same damned thing and marks ammo shipments a desirable target.

You're focusing on the wrong thing, they need change to keep their jobs and to catch people not conforming to their ever changing rules to keep the times up and the revenue scam going.

Sorta reminds me of how the FAA changed all the aviation weather abbreviations about 15 years ago.

The international language of aviation is English.

There are more airplanes aloft in the United States at any given moment than the rest of the world combined.

The chance of a US pilot flying to or around Europe are remote.

BUT the FAA changed the weather abbreviations to an international model based on French.

Whoopee.

Now we have an ammo label that conforms to international standards.

Another useless use of your tax money.

Just sayin....
When was the last time you shipped ammo internationally or imported it directly?

Never because .gov would melt down and disappear if that were to happen. God forbid we be allowed to business with other countries!
