Steel case ammo for use in semi-auto pistols
Hello all,
I'm considering buying some steel cased ammo for use in a couple of semi-auto pistols. I've used brass and aluminum cased in these pistols with no issues or concerns (a couple of 1911's, Taurus PT92/99 and Taurus PT111 Mil-Pro).
While I've shot steel cased thru my AR's with no issues (save 1 failure to extract) I have yet to use steel cased in my pistols.
Thoughts, opinions, real-life use experiences???
Thanks,
BK

never had an issue with it. Used in in Glock 9mm on many occasions. Not so much on the 1911, but occasionally I have.

I have shot quite a bit of steel cased 9 and .45. Never had a problem. Used in xdm 9, XDS 45. Also my buddy shoots it in his beretta px4 and ruger sr 9

I wouldn't worry about it too much. There's a lot of negative "hype" with steel case but for the most part it is going to go bang every time you pull the trigger.

I have a XD9 that is 9+ years old. I've owned it since new and taken care of it. Sometimes it stovepipes steel cased Tula. Good practice clearing jams I suppose. The gun runs 100% with brass case. Has probably 1500 ish rounds through it.

And my RRA (Armscor) 1911 too, but it has been modified with a throated barrel and polished ramp and breech face
