Reloading case lube?

Post by nemo » Fri Oct 27, 2023 1:12 pm

What’s the best case lube? I’ve read a bunch and it’s a toss up of info. I’m not reloading a long rifle case but intermediate sized (1.305).

I use a lanolin and alcohol mix. I’ve never had a stuck case with my lube or with Lee case lube. Stuck cases suck.

Watched a guy rip a .308 rim off a case. Didn’t look fun getting the remains out of the die.

I’ve done it a few times. 0/10 do not recommend.

I have been using a Hornady brand lube for 15 years on everything with no issues.

I like a spray lube.
Just because it's easy and I'm lazy.

Imperial sizing die wax is the very best, but you really only need it for heavy case forming. Lanolin/alcohol spray is good, but so (believe it or not) is wire pulling lube from the hardware store. You can use it like a regular lube or you can dilute it with water or alcohol and use it in a spray bottle.

Might want to invest in one of these. Over use of lube can cause stuck cases.
