Help identifying and fixing gun

Post by EH91KY » Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:30 pm

Sent Cranky a PM about this already, so he might be able to tell me more...but for the moment I will post this anyway.

My grandpa gave me this small revolver a long time ago. I believe he said it was his grandfathers but cant swear to it. It has never worked since I was given it. I tried to find more info about it but not much luck. I broke it down to find that the V spring was broker. I also was given a plastic baggie with other parts inside it, not 100% sure if they go with the gun...grandpa hasn't been sane in years.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Might not be much help, but it looks very similar to this Belgian piece:

Definitely not an expert on antique revolvers, but there were so many different makers in the late 1800's that dabbled in manufacturing. If it was complete, I would hesitate to try it out. Get a buddy to take the first shot haha!

The stamp on the frame in front of the cylinder may be a clue, better pics of any markings would probably help.

Here's another for comparison. Minor differences, but very similar style.

It look like Belgian made in Leige.
Called a folding trigger pocket gun.

That does look very similar. I've found a few other close, but I just cant find an exact match to save my life lol. No point in having a gun that doesn't function, whether I shoot it or not is another story :llama: Since it's a .22 I dont think it would blow apart or anything, but wouldnt be a bad idea to rig something up for safety.

The first picture is of the marking in front of the cylinder. That and there is one other marking I can make out and it is a star with a P inside it.

EDIT That second one is very very close

I will have to google that. Think you could fix it? I have tried finding the V spring for similiar models and I'm not seeing much. Not sure how hard it would be to have one fabricated.

Just found this. Notice it has the same marking as mine up top. Not the same model as mine however

I have books that say you can weld a v spring togather and reheat treat but have had zero success with that.

It is easier/better to fit generic v spring to the gun.
