Im looking for recommendations for a machinist in the Louisville area. Ive got a Griffen minimalist mount in .223 with 1/2x28 threads. I want it re-threaded to 13.5x1LH and bored to 9mm for my MPX. Im doing a form 1 suppressor and the Griffen is the mount for quick atttach/take off. I dont really want to go direct thread and my other option is 3 lug mounting which will not allow me to use it on other rifles. And Griffen wont do custom threading at this time. Thanks.

I am not saying it won't work. I am saying it won't be perfect. Minor diameter for your metric thread is 12.5 mm, the half inch threads are allready at 12.7 mm. You will have about .008 oversize (8 thou) and .004 of threads showing in wall of bore, that are 28 tpi, your 1mm pitch is 25.4 threads per inch, there will be some worm crosshatching of threads, on a thread that will not peak but be flat topped. Also the threading would need to be singlepointed in a lathe, (imo) rather than use a tap, because with an oversize bore you will not get a concentric thread in that piece with a tap, except by pure luck, and also less than a full 75% thread engagement. This would be of concern on a supressor. Would an 1/2-28 female to 13.5-1 LH male adapter work for you? If so, I would go that route.

I don't see one listed as stock inventory, but I am pretty sure theses guys can accomodate you and know exactly what you are wanting to do.

Guncrank is a member on here. He does smith work on the side and has for many other people on here. His shop is/was off Bardstown rd in Fern Creek. Maybe send him a PM and see if he can help you.

Also maybe adayton on here. I don't know if he does this work or not but I know he has a full service machine shop called Stamler Machine. Might be worth an ask.
