It's brokeded!

Wtf are my options to get this thing apart? I was just messing around with it and it felt like something broke in the grip safety when I was racking it and it locked back and I can't get it to release... Older German. 32acp.

A 3# hammer blow to the rear of the slide should loosen it up. ;-)

Probably not worth much, and it's one I got from my Grannie. It was her normal carry pistol. VERY nice blueing for the age and her carrying it for as long as I can remember. It's a pain to get apart and an absolute BITCH to get back together even when it's not broken...haha

It always took me forever to remember the trick to get it back together. Thank God for Google now... Not sure what broke. I could feel a click or snapping feeling on my palm when I racked it. Like a small spring or clip. I bet if I can figure out how to get the grips off and push whatever the grip safety pushes, it will release. I'm not going to even start on it tonight. I'll end up being up all night putzing around with it.

It's been a long time since I've had an Ortgies in my hand, so I can't remember its internal particulars, but doesn't it have a lever inside the action that the magazine follower presses upward to lock the slide back?

If so, try to press it downward manually. Sometimes PPKs will lock up like this if the lever gets gunked up.

I'll check that out. Thanks...

And if that don't work I'll have a $5 bill in my pocket Sat

Definitely could be worse. But a year and half ago when she passed away it looked like new practically. My poor choice not at least clearing it and taking a closers look when I got it a few months back. All I did was pull the slide back a little and confirmed it was loaded and chambered like Granny always kept it.

Try 0000 steel wool on it to remove the rust (DO NOT USE OIL AND THE STEEL WOOL) rub it dry only. It that don't work you can use evaporust on the small places but it removes blind also be aware. You can oil AFTER using the 0000 steel wool and it has been wiped down of any excess particles of rust to protect. You will hear both saying oil and steel wool and dry only and steel wool and the option I described has worked for me personally on older rusted firearms to a big degree.

Cool. I soaked some of the spots where it wouldn't get on the blueing with PBblaster. I'll mess with it more tonight.

I found what is hitting. Still no idea why, or which one is out of position. It's the 2 little blocks of metal about the firing pin and spring in the pic. It is straight above where the grip safety is supposed to be that I already removed.

The smaller block to the rear is part of the firing pin that looks to be where it's supposed to be. Still no idea what the bigger one is.

I have a book that shows how to disassemble the Ortgies pistol and re-assemble it. Bring the pistol to New Haven Sunday and I will bring the book.
