Mini lathe?

Post by ken6881 » Mon Jan 19, 2015 7:08 pm

Anyone use a mini lathe to turn muzzle breaks or use in general. I have been looking at them for a while for making parts on my car but thought might be fun to make muzzle breaks or a form 1 suppressor some day.

Don't forget threading barrels.

Most of the mini lathes only have a 20 mm through hole so it would make threading bull barrels impossible. But some lighter weight ones would be doable. 7x12/14 is the size machine I was thinking

I have a Unimate , not capable of threading barrels
It is smaller than 7x14
My Smithy is about 8 x22

Micro -lux is nice 7x14 , better if you find a old flat bed lathe.

If you are going to thread barrel 12x32 is a Minumum.

I honestly don't see myself threading barrels for a long time if ever. I might keep my eye on Craigslist and see what comes up.

I've always wanted a Unimat, even though I have no idea how to use one.

In my next life I want to be a machinist.
