AGI American Gun Institute
I am thinking about enrolling, and would like some feed back on AGI. Is it worth doing?

Welcome to KAC. I've heard of agi but never dealt with them personally. You should start an intro thread to let everyone know a little about yourself. Enjoy the site

Re: AGI American Gun Institute
Most of the online gunsmith/vcr repair/hvac etc. trade schools are a scam. You spend a good deal of money for nothing as not many companies in the industry give much (if any) weight to the online programs. Avoid them like you'd avoid the FFL123 scams... As noted before, you'd be better off to take a year or two out of your life (if possible) and attend an actual traditional gunsmith school of which there are very few sadly. Colorado and Pennsylvania have some that are well regarded IIRC. Alternatively you could go the old fashioned route and find an apprenticeship, but this can be even harder than attending a traditional school as there are so few old-school all around gunsmiths left. Most have a specialty and focus mainly on just that so it can be tough to pick up all the basics. On top of all this, the industry and our customers are constantly changing and fewer people are interested in the old world practices such as stock in-letting and checkering for example. Now it's more about CNC operation and having six miles of picatinny rail. In any case, avoid the online junk. Go to a real school or find someone who will take on an (often unpaid) apprentice in a niche of the industry you want into.
