Front Sight review, 4 day basic handgun class

Post by jdf747emt » Tue Apr 26, 2016 9:24 pm

Went to Vegas, I drove the whole way, nice trip, wished the car I bought the Ole lady had cruise control, Oh the pain. Anyway its a real nice facility, its in the High desert so the weather was great, lots of sun and it wasn't to hot, actually cool in the morning. They start from the basics, how to hold the weapon, trigger control, and they still teach the weaver stance, the targets are the result of the founder who took a look of all his saved X-rays, he was a chiropractor, and measured the chest cavity of these thousands of X-rays and came up with his preferred target, he doesn't use the terminal T for the head, instead a box type shape. the first day its about safety, and putting some rounds down range, the second day goes into malfunctions, the third day everything is timed, shooting from the holster to malfunctions, the last day is putting everything together, under timed exercise. The class room classes were very good and informative, on liability and issues of using lethal force. The classes are huge, 40 plus people! your have another student who shadows you while 3 to 4 instructors go up and down the line, teaching and helping, I was the odd man out, so I had it made I got to shoot both relays, I was a mag loading fool, I went thru almost 1000 rounds, glad I took lots of mags!. They have rental Glock 17s and a ammo dump that has good prices on ammo, so if you want to fly in and do a class, I bought a membership years ago for 300 to 500 dollars when I was single and bad some bucks, the only thing I paid was 50 bucks for a up to date criminal background check. they had box lunches you could purchase for around 12 bucks that weren't bad, and you could choose from a menu. They had a small shop for things you might need, and they carry a lot of blade tech holsters etc... Everything you are expected to do a instructor must first do, head shots under time, etc... So if don't mind getting a thousand emails a week until you unsubscribe from them its better money spent than in the casinos, plus they didn't try to sell me a time share or any of that crap while we were there.
