Pictures - RWI Tactical Rifle 1 - Sept. 16th, 2012
Thank you to everyone that came out. All students appeared to have a blast, and I know I did. While not RWI's largest class, the group made a lot of progress and sorted out quite a few kinks. Make sure you can attend RWI's Tactical Rifle 2 for even further training!
The day was started with proper basic marksmanship lessons, including breathing and trigger squeeze technique, followed by confirming (or establishing, if necessary) a proper zero.

After confirming zeros, shooters went through a Ready-Up Reflexive Fire drill.

Moving along, various malfunctions and their remedies were discussed and demonstrated. Shooters had to clear induced malfunctions.

Once shooters had a firm grasp of malfunctions and their remedies, we went back to Ready-Up drills, this time while walking forward and backward.

Another version of Ready-Up Reflexive Fire drills was conducted, this time involving lateral movement. This drill loosely replicates a surprise contact to the side while on patrol.

Next students learned that there are many different variations of the traditional kneeling firing position. This was particularly eye opening for some.

The basics of the use of, and the differences between, both cover and concealment were discussed. This is an important building block that will be expanded upon heavily in future courses.

Another crucial building block that many look over is the ability to effectively communicate with fellow shooters. Communication while firing and moving as a team is absolutely vital. At Rifle 1 courses the fundamentals of proper communication are established with Buddy Movement drills, to be built upon at Rifle 2 and 3.

Thanks Sean. They're too noisy for my liking, but I'll deal... cheap camera, cheap glass, and ISO was 400 to get decent shutter speeds.ssracer wrote:great shots whoots!

I'm not sure what's gayer, the fact that you'll be wearing a tie-dye shirt, or the fact that you already know what you're going to wear on Saturday.
Just joking... One of my favorite shirts is a tie-dye Hard Rock shirt, actually.

No...the shirt stays !!! It's one of those Reebok shirts that wick away moisture. Might look bad but man it works !!Robert Paulson wrote:Like the tie dye shirt under your kit?dbh wrote:The pics really help me see needed changes. Already made a couple.
