Ok, I wanted to bring up something on the Logistics of these shoots. Wilson won't mention it but he ended up paying out of his own pocket for the last shoot held a few months ago. For those that don't remember, it costs 150 to rent the range. Last shoot (not this one) was pretty slim attendance and Wilson (WLJ) ended up footing like 70 or 80 dollars out of his own pocket.

This shoot was well attended (by the time I left at 2:30 anyway) and so it came out ahead. I think normally we end up putting this money forward to the next shoot. However, I would hate for any one of us to have to be out for money for a shoot that hoped to bring us all together.

Therefore, I am suggesting that the overage realized this time that is needed to bring Wilson back into the black be done so for the last shoot. (FYI, this is why we all pay $10 to show up). Any amount over that be put toward the next shoot. Sometimes it is hit or miss for people coming but I personally appreciate everyone's attendance and especially the effort for those doing the work of organizing and cooking and such.

I might be wrong here but those are my thoughts. In the past, fees for the people to get together has been a subject of some tension. I just wanted to put this out there because I think it is only fair for him not to be subsidizing everyone's fun while we all are grown people and can be responsible to cover the cost like that.

I know what you are talking about, Dave. IIRC he was actually a tad ahead going into that shoot and planning to have a shoot were it was discounted due to the overage in the, "shout out kitty". But even that got used up. Not sure if I got that exactly right, but,... ya he is trying to help everyone have good time. And like you say, he shouldn't be shouldering the burden to help us all have a good time.

Maybe raise the cost per person some to keep a buffer, maybe. Maybe the price could be set after a certain time like maybe there is a definable window where everybody has kinda shown up but nobody has left yet. Then set a price based on attendance to that point.

I'm not sure if what I just said would work,... I just pulled that idea out of my ass.

I think you misunderstood or I wasn't clear or both. We were short for the summer shoot but if you go back and look at that thread you'll see I pulled money out of the shot piggy bank, $80 to be exact if I remember right. I'll have to double check. I had $150 built up from the past shoots and was originally going to make the summer shoot free but when we fell short in the number of attendees it was decided, by an on the spot vote, to go ahead and charge and usual per head $10 fee for that shoot and make up the shortfall out of the piggy bank by pulling $80 out of it. No point in wasting a free shoot on such a low number of attendees.
Coincidentally we just happen to be $80 over the rental fee for this shoot which happily put us back at $150 in current funds.

The numbers
Range rental fee: $150
Shoot piggy bank funds before summer shoot: $150
Summer shoot intake: $70
Amount taken out of piggy bank to cover summer shoot: $80
Fall shoot intake $230
Shoot piggy as it stands now: $150

I think we pretty much past the point we're I have to worry about using my own money to cover any shortfall, it could still happen in the future, but I don't think we need to worry at this point now thank to the good turn out for this shoot. So I think we're cool at this point as far as money.

Thanks guys

I wish I could have made the crackhead summer one. Would have much rather been there than being stuck at work because of someone else's stupidity.

That is great, glad it is worked out. Last thing I would want anyone to be is short of personal funds because of the rest of the group. It should never come down to that. I don't think this group would allow it either :). I think it is good to keep a small piggy bank for these events. Especially when Johnny's woman doesn't kick him out soon enough to get there with the food.
