NIGHT ASSAULT RIFLE, SHOTGUN AND PISTOL SIX MATCHES OVER TWO
The Knob Creek Practical Rifle League (KCPRL) had it's second match on February 25th. 33 shooters showed the youngest of whom was 13. The match was great fun.
The Knob Creek Practical Rifle League (KCPRL) is hosting it's next matches and we are going to be shooting, ALOT. AND IT HOPEFULLY WON'T BE SO COLD!
Rules are as follows ( subject to change, with or without notice)
Rifles, pistols and shotguns wll be self defense weapons. Not competition guns. The KCPRL is a practical shooting group. the KCPRL has the right to examine any equipment used or worn or carried during it's matches.
General safety rules
we run a cold range, no weapons loaded or handled unless under the direction of a Range Officer (RO) chamber flags inserted in long guns, pistols holstered. Sweeping someone with a weapon or other egregious safety violation is a automatic disqualification for the rest of the event with no refund!
for night shoots. one cyalume stick affixed on the front and one on the back of each match attendant, hung somewhere between neck and knees. NO EXCEPTIONS DO NOT PLAY THE INVISIBLE PEDESTRIAN! All match attendants will carry a minimum of 1 handheld light or head lamp for navigation.
eyes and ear protection required at all times.
RIFLES
Center fire rifle in .556, 7.62 or 5.45 x39 6.8 spc etc. please ask if the caliber you are shooting is considered a rifle caliber if you need clarification
Magazines can hold a maximum of 30 rounds.
one optic, one or more lights, Suppressors, NVG at shooters discretion.
SHOTGUNS
Semi auto or pump 12 gauge shotgun
one optic, one or more lights, Suppressors, NVG at shooters discretion.
no speed loaders, no mag tubes extending past the end of the barrel by more than 1 inch. Maximum barrel length 22 inches, no minimum length barrel.
PISTOLS
self defense pistol, NO RACE GUNS
center fire pistol or revolver in a pistol caliber of at least 380 caliber.
minor is 380, 9mm, 38 special, 9mm mak, etc
major, 357 mag,357 sig, 40, 45 acp, velocity times bullet weight in grains divided by 1000 must equal 165 or above!
holster must be hip or IWB within 3 inches of the side seam of pants, NO shoulder, Small-of-back, race holsters
no compensators or optics
no mag funnels
gun must start the match loaded with a factory magazine with standard baseplate. IE if you want to run a glock 33 round mag it needs to be in a Glock 18, and please oh please let me shoot it!
reload magazines can be any capacity
scoring
rifles, one hit in the A zone of an uspsa target is a stop or 2 hits anywhere on the target will consider it neutralized.
shotguns steel plate knocked down, the clay pigeon broken, the vegetable or canned good destroyed, the paper target with the majority of pellets in the a-d zones
pistols, 7 points on a IDPA target. A zone hits are 7 for minor and major, B zones hits 3/4 minor/major, C zone hits 2/3 minor/major, D zone hits 1/2 minor/major
failures to neutralize a target or shooting a no-shoot or having a procedural error (not using cover, not performing a mandatory reload) will incur a 10 second penalty per instance.
NIGHT SHOOT DETAILS
We will be running 3 matches on each night over 2 nights. We will break the group of shooters into three equal squads and those squads will rotate through each rifle, pistol and shotgun stage together.
TIMELINE
April 13th sunset is 818 PM that night.
6 pm Shooters for Fridays matches will confirm their payment with KCR and get their match tickets and hand stamps.
630-730 final stage setups will be taking place, this is the time to dive in and assist with whatever the stage workers need done.
730 pm match attendants gather for safety brief and equipment inspections as well as squad assignments. Squads will report to their respective stages and meetup with the RO who will further cover any questions regarding that stage.
830 or when dark enough shooting will commence.
12 am or so? We will end when all shooters have shot and break up for the night.
April 14th
sunset is 819 PM that night.

Night shoot pistol on pistol range, steel poppers will be used as well as paper IDPA targets
Sat April 14
Night shoot Rifle on main range IDP targets as well as paper plates and clays may be used.
Night shoot Shotgun on lower range steel poppers will be used as well as possibly paper targets and clay pigeons
Night shoot pistol on pistol range, steel poppers will be used as well as paper IDPA targets
The lower range will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the day for match attendants to shoot and sight in weapons and such based on availability of a RO to be there.

a hand held light or headlamp or both for navigation.
rifle as above plus a minimum of 2 spare magazines and a mag carrier if wanted. 90 rounds ammo
shotgun as above 50 rounds ammunition, buck or birdshot.
pistol as above, with at least 2 spare magazines and a mag carrier plus either a weapon mounted light and or a handheld light. If a weapon light is mounted on a handgun it needs to also have a holster to accomodate this light and weapon. NO ATTACHING LIGHTS TO A HOT GUN! 50 rounds of ammunition
Pricing
all matches are 15 dollars for non KCR members and 10 dollars for KCR members. A package price of 60 dollars for non KCR members for all 6 matches and 50 dollars for KCR members for all 6 matches. RO's and staff fee is waived.
If you just want to come down and shoot one match feel free! Or see if you can handle shooting all 6!
Accomodations
we will not have camping available, but there are very reasonably priced hotels close to KCR.
SPONSORS and PRIZES
The first, second, and third place shooters in each event will win a cash prize to be determined, the overall top three shooters will be awarded a cash or other prize to be determined as well.

can this be a spectator sport.. I would not mind doing this but frankly I would like to watch it go down once before jumping in on the action.

If you would like to come out and observe, that is fine by me.
I will say watching people shoot while you can jump in and shoot is like watching people have sex when you can jump in and have sex. Jump in there and have some fun!
We do a fantastic job of easing shooters into it!
Our youngest shooter at the last night match was 13 years old and struggled a little bit with the weight of his brother's rifle.

IM active duty and fell as if we don't do enough night shoots under WHITE LIGHT and I would like to get some good ranges in before my next deployment (which is VERY SOON)
