Electronic Renewal

Post by Frailer » Tue Dec 23, 2014 12:09 pm

Has anyone tried Kentucky's electronic renewal system yet?

My renewal notification came this week (my CCDW expires in April), and it mentioned the electronic option was now available. I was a bit irked when I saw there was an additional $10 fee for the service, but I decided to do it anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that while you do pay an extra $10 to the state treasurer, you do not pay the $20 fee to the local sheriff's office. So...renewal is $10 cheaper, no paperwork to fill out, no photo to pay for (you upload your own), no writing two checks, and no trip to the courthouse. What's not to like?

Let's just hope it actually works.

That sounds good to me. Georgia went through a short period without renewals at all - brand new application, prints, photo, fees, etc. Thanks to the fine folks at GeorgiaCarry.org, one of the most effective legislative action groups in the nation, we now have common sense renewals.

Just got an e-mail that my renewal application was approved (two hours after submission), and my new license will be at my sheriff's office on 2 January.

According to the e-mail I'll have to pay the $20 fee then, so it's not cheaper, but it is a heckuva lot quicker and easier.

Can't get it to work for me, made account but won't let me add my profile. Just keeps saying invalid info when in fact everything is right.

I really wouldn't know how picky they are, but the photo I used certainly wasn't professional quality. I stood against a white door, snapped a photo with the front-facing camera on my iPhone, cropped it, and uploaded it.

Just go the email saying my new license should be in around the 3rd in January. I'm liking this online renewal. Pretty quick.

In the FWIW department...

My CCDW expires 8/5, and I got the renewal notice a couple weeks ago. I decided to try the web site, and went online to did the e-renewal thing Saturday, 5/23. Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) 5/26 I got an email containing a "E-CCDW Notice of Issuance" stating that the license would be available on or about 6/5. Not bad at all. Yep, costs $10 more but the convenience is so worth it in my opinion.

The attached notice has a box needing signatures from me and from the sheriff, so I'll have to remember to print it and take it with me LOL.

One thing to note - when you pick it up pay attention to the issue date etc. My new one was not valid until the old one expired, so had to carry the old one until 8/5, then swap it for the new one. Didn't want to carry one that was not technically current

Mine expires in February. DO I have to wait for a notice or something or can I just go re-up it? I work practically across the street.

I went the paper route for my renewal..

Question:

If my current permit expires before the new one comes in (expires OCT 7th) can I still carry concealed or do I have to stop till the new one comes in? The lady at the sheriffs office told me that I had to cut the old one up and stop carrying if it expired before the new one arrived...
