I've been paying with appendix carry for about a week now. I don't dress around my gun, so printing has been a concern, and my shorter shirts often pull up when I bend over. Is caused me to pull on my clothing a lot more, which is obviously a tell.

I carry a 9mm Shield in a Desantis Intruder IWB at the 4-5 oclock position. It's wide as hell, but I still slid it to the 12-1 oclock position for the past week or so, and I'm liking it. I no longer worry about anyone behind me, it's still comfortable sitting down, and I thought I was printing, but I had several people not notice it at all. Now that I know, I'm going to be picking up a PHLster soon.

So.. who carries appendix?

I do, most often.

Honestly, as far as printing and such, I can open carry and about 70% of the people I encounter are oblivious to just about everything around them, including the fact that I am going heeled.

If that style of carry works for you, go for it. Lots of pros to appendix carry if you can do it comfortable. I would not be overly worried about the printing or such, unless you are going to a place (like Florida or Texas) where you can get into trouble for that.

Carries natural, fast draw, can be defended easily from an attempted grab & most people won't look for a gun there because they don't want to be caught staring at your crotch.

So do you have to shift your belt buckle to the side? What kind of belt do you wear?

No, the buckle stays centered. I wear a belt made for carrying a pistol, thick and rigid enough to support the weight without sagging or getting bound up.

This hip grip allows the use of no holster.
I just hook it to my pants with the belt sandwiching the hook.
No need to shift the buckle or anything.
Any belt works with this setup.
I wear it in the one o'clock position.

I approve of apendix carry as long as you have the right holster for it.
The only reason I don't carry appendix is that I'm waiting to buy my next holster.

I'm carrying my shield appendix right now.

Don't do it often but conceals 100% and don't have to worry about bending over.

My belief is that anything to help prevent an "oh fuck" moment is good.
So a looser fit kydex holster may be the better option opposed to mexican carry.

I might consider it, but it is awful handy the way I do it now.
I've not noticed any holsters designed for this S&W in appendix style, but I've not really been looking.
You know of any specific ones for me to ponder?

Any custom kydex holster maker should be able to pull it off.
I am partial to Bravo Concealment.

I almost think if I was gonna holster it I would just go ahead and carry a different gun.
All my others, I use a holster. (Semi-Autos)

I have two set up this way. One is an old 649 with a Barami hip grip and Tyler T--just like the setup above--with an upside down Hogue Handall. The other is a 642 with a DeSantis Clip Grip.

I've tinkered with Kydex trigger guard covers, but to be honest I feel more likely to have an "oops" playing around with those than just going without and tucking it naked into my waistband. Lately, however, I've taken to carrying these guns in modified pocket mode. Below is a link to a photo that shows what I mean; pardon me for not embedding, but it's a little large for folks who read this on small screens:

You can use a pocket holster with this method, and IMHO it's even faster than standard appendix mode.

I do have a couple of appendix holsters for Glocks, but I haven't found one I'm entirely happy with yet.

I carry mine in modified pocket mode everyday when out in the yard.
Never knew it had a name for that method of carry.
Very comfortable when do work that entails bending and stooping.

I have the incog for a g19. I really like the holster, it has great retention. Only downside is the wait time, I waited 11 weeks . I carry it appendix only, def wouldn't recommend it for 3-5 o'clock position it is not comfortable at all

I like Appendix carry but for myself if I am not pocketing a mouse gun, then that means I can carry a full size pistol. I actually like to Appendix large guns , the extra length lays beside my junk and I dont have seated issues of the thing pointing at my most important region. After reading this thread I've been reading several different articles and looking at holsters for this type of carry.

I need to get rid of most of my gut and I think this would definitely be the most comfortable place to carry. Fat gut overhang gets in the way now...
