Situation question

Post by Bama » Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:54 pm

Wondering what you guys/gals would do in a situation.....

A drunk, rough looking person comes into your place of business, and after refusing to leave, verbally threatens to shoot you and your co-workers. Do you react and pull your carry or just be more alert and wait to see a gun?

Be more alert and wait....

Or straight toss his ass out the door and make him aware that you wont put up with his shit...

Situation question

Without seeing a weapon, I'd call the cops and have him hauled off.

I see a gun and it's a double tap to the head.

Yeah. Don't wanna pull too early. But waiting could be dangerous as well. Real sticky situation as far as when to pull.

Gun was never shown above the counter, simply removed from its resting place, slide racked (we keep one out of chamber due to some not being comfortable at work), and ready if needed.
Cops were called and later find out he is a regular at the local jail, 12 years worth to be exact. He was arrested for DC a block away after getting stupid with an officer.

Nothing if no visible weapon other than call to cops.

If someone says "I am going to shoot you" legally that is all I need to defend myself. I am not Wyatt Earp or Doc Holiday. I am not going to see if I can out draw anyone, even a drunk.

If some says that to me, the smoke wagon is clearing the kydex. Does not necessarily mean anyone has to be shot.

Glad that situation did not turn out badly.

My answer: what the guy *said* isn't relevant to me. What *is* relevant is whether I feel I am at risk of suffering death or grievous bodily harm. If I do, gun comes out; if not, it doesn't.

That doesn't mean I need to see a gun first, BTW.
