Wow he’s still around. He has to be 80 plus. Old school gun smith.

I have used him for three things now and does great work. I had one of the action bars come loose on a 11/87 and he fixed it in 2 min and didn't charge me. He laughed at the left over super glue I had in there to hold it. He told me you have to use a special staking tool and boom it was fixed.

Also since his hours are slim he has time to do inventory, complete an audit or film movies on the side if needed and not close for years on end like some in the area. :llama:

The ARs with optics on them are employee guns. I remember Mike telling me about that.

Whittaker’s is a sad shadow of what it was when they were still in the old store. When they moved into the new building a lot of their their gun inventory was replaced with clothes and other stuff I don’t want. It’s a long drive for me and I don’t think I will bother making it again.

Once the old man died it went down hill fast. They were know for buying close outs and passing the deal on to customers. Now the prices are like Cabelas so what is the point? Their online inventory blows so you don't know what is in stock unless you go there. They use to have a list of all the used guns, but now not so much. Last time I was there a few years ago they had huge selection of Yeti coolers and Sitka hunting gear. That stuff ain't cheap.

The real profit is not in guns but in gear but guns is what draws people in. Seems like they've forgotten that.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I’m a lefty. You could always count on their being close to a dozen LH bolt guns on the racks almost every time you were there. Today there was one, a $750 Savage in 223.

I went in Biff’s in Louisville today. He’s lost his FFL so it’s just basically a flea market now. He wouldn’t tell me why they revoked his license. I took them off the list.

I also went by Knob Creek. I think they’re probably the biggest dealer in the state now unless there’s one in far east or west KY I’m unaware of.

Went to the new kygunco today. Seemed to have an ok selection of guns. Not nearly as big or stuffed full as the b-town store. Ok selection of ammo. American eagle 556 100 rd box was $80. Had 9, 38, 357, 40 & 45.

KCR may have more guns on display but both Buds and KGC are far larger in terms of total sales thanks to their online stores especially Buds. So it depends on how you want to look at it.

Does KCR even have an online store?

Well, in the case of Bud’s the online store and the retail store are two completely different operations. They only connection they share now besides the name is that you can pick up an online purchase at the retail store and pay for it there. As far as Ky Gun Company goes I don’t know if their online inventory is just what they have in the shop or if it’s also drop shipped. But just in terms of walking into the building and leaving with a gun I think KCR probably has more guns on the shelf than either. Sadly, they’re probably 10-15% more expensive too.
